Private After-Hours Temple Stay at Ninna-ji

What makes this journey different This is more than a standard temple visit. Guests experience Ninna-ji after it closes to the public, with private access extending overnight and into the following morning. A Buddhist monk leads the private viewing of normally closed cultural properties and temple treasures. Best for High-end FIT clients, repeat visitors to Japan and culturally curious travelers seeking private access to Buddhist heritage, traditional arts and a deeper experience of Kyoto. Optional experiences Optional programs can be added according to the client’s interests and may include Goma fire prayer, Shomyo Buddhist chanting, Goeika, Gagaku, Noh performance, tea ceremony, wagashi making, ikebana, private dining and professional photography. Availability and pricing vary by program and will be confirmed in the proposal. Accommodation notes Overnight accommodation is within Ninna-ji. The traditional rooms are primarily tatami-style and use futons rather than Western beds. The accommodation includes multiple rooms, allowing separate sleeping rooms where required, with one bathroom and one toilet. Language & interpretation On-site guidance is provided in Japanese. English interpretation can be arranged from JPY 39,600 for 4 hours, including tax and service charge. Operational notes Accommodation, private access, monk availability and optional experiences are subject to temple ceremonies and availability. Overnight bookings normally require at least one month’s notice. Earlier inquiry is recommended for spring and autumn. The program is generally available year-round, except for certain temple periods and ceremonies.
